Hey all..

I know it's been a while since my last update... I've been really depressed, it's been 2 years since my dog was stolen and sold...

If a certain somebody had just kept their word I wouldn't be writing this journal entry but no, some heartless, sadistic, lying con-artist just had to sell MY dog!

Taking away the one thing that's left the biggest hole in my heart since my first dog passed away in September 2004.

Well, one of the blogs I heard back from published my case!

Also, while better business was unable to contact the shelter to resolve my complaint their rating was dropped from an A minus to an F.

Another news station executive contacted me asking more information about what happened, well I emailed him and heard back from him one time and now three weeks later not a word. I plan to keep at it though.

The shelter staff has been keeping to themselves, I had one person who tried to discourage me(again) but I put him in his place.

I also plan to write some letters to a few people who could help me and happen to be animal lovers.

I went to San Francisco 2 weeks ago which was helpful since I needed a change of scenery.

In other news, I've come across other people who have been in situations similar to my own and we've swapped stories.

The one thing we all have in common besides our dogs being female is that they are purebreds. In the pet industry there's a market for dogs like that which why I believe the rescue groups involved with wrongfully adopting out my dog and two others did so because they saw they could make a profit.

I also found some IRS records filed by the shelter who adopted out my dog, turns out they hadn't sent in a 990 form since 2012. By law, all non-profits are required to file these forms every year. By going an entire year without doing this, they legally should not have been collecting contributions or adopting out dogs.

After doing some digging via Google, I learned two reasons why the shelter didn't want to give my dog back is because they didn't think my family could provide adequate  care or a good home. Uh... my dog was healthy, I had her for five years and paid these people to care for her. What an insult!

But I'm not done yet... I got a hold of some contact information for some people in power... so I plan to mail letters out explaining both my situation, similar cases and that the possibility of a major dog theft problem in the city.

Just last week, I helped one person get her dog back. How it went was this, I happened to be passing by this old boarded up shopping plaza and saw this pug mix just walking along. I couldn't get close enough because by the time I turned around, she was gone.

Called animal control and posted a found ad online. Animal control didn't find the dog when I checked 2 days later but I did get email from a woman looking for a female pug mix... turns out the dog I saw was hers! she had been missing for a month.

After searching on Facebook, I found out a colleague of the same people behind stealing my dog and causing me 2 years of absolute misery had seen the dog too and planned to go out and pick her up. Well, the dog's owner saw those same posts and went out to the area where I saw the dog and put up flyers. Long story short, as of last Saturday she got her dog back.

I just wish someone would do the same for me.

One producer from a news station who was interested in my story hasn't contacted me, it's been over a month since I last heard from him but I'm not calling it quits. I've filed a complaint with ripoff report. I also plan to send out letters and reply to emails I've been putting off.

Hopefully someone will give me a hand and bring Rudy one step closer to coming back home.

I truly believe based on my situation and two other dog owners locked in struggles similar to mine that these groups never intended to return these dogs in the first place, they were all healthy purebred females that they just flat out sold for easy money.

On a sadder note, my betta fish who has been sick for so long passed away Crying

I've felt really down but plan to get another male, I think my other fish misses him because she looks over at his empty bowl. I did everything I could to help him... although he's not suffering anymore I'm really going to miss him. Looked at a few places, I plan to check out one other pet/fish store next week and am waiting to hear back from a guy who will call as soon as he gets a fish that has the color I'm looking for.

Aside from that, I'm hoping this spring will be a pleasant one and that I finally get my dog back.

If anyone asks, here's two other cases similar to mine that I mentioned(see links below). I got in touch with these owners and they've been put through the exact same thing I've endured. Also, looking on ripoff this is just the tip of the iceberg. I found several complaints related to animal shelters and rescue groups. It's an epidemic and rescues and shelters need to be inspected and regulated! Hey, the USDA inspects farms and commercial dog kennels and the Animal welfare act requires that facilities housing animals meet certain standards in order to stay open... so rescues and animal shelters who have been long exempt should comply too!

Here's the reports:
