Profile of my Killer Whale character, Kai.

Part of the inspiration for his backstory came from when I went to SeaWorld back in 2001 as part of a school fieldtrip in 5th grade. I enjoyed seeing the whales and dolphins while I was there. That was the last time I saw Keiko, from Free Willy movies.

The whales and dolphins were friendly and came up to the glass panel of the pools.

One Killer whale swam right by the glass, allowing everyone to see her calf. So cute and totally relaxed.

I've noticed over the years animals both wild and domestic will approach me with little or no fear. Wanting food, to be petted or just looking out of curiosity.

Guess I just have a way with animals.

Anyway, Kai is part of my original series Hooked on Mutts and appears during an episode in season 1, he's also a main character in my other story, Fish & Chips which is part of Hooked on Mutts. Both stories take place in the late 1990s and early 2000s

If anyone asks, when writing my characters I try to picture what they sound like and write them with a certain actor or actress in mind if the story ever gets made into animated film or series. For Kai I thought Delroy Lindo was a good fit. He did the voice of Gamma the Rottweiler in Pixar's Up.

For a story like Fish & Chips, I'd like for it to be adapted for a mini series or made-for-TV movie.

Anyway, I plan to post other profiles and ref sheets for the characters in the story so stay tuned!
